seaman staines was allegedly a character in the 1960's childrens tv series "captain pugwash" along with master bates & roger the cabin boy.all made up by the sunday correspondent newspaper who were sued by the author of the books.the name,seaman staines,does appear to have,ermmm no pun intended,err stuck!!
