Freezing ham

I have alot of leftover ham. Does it freeze well?

Oh yeah. It does.

If I make a big ham there comes a point where you don't even want to see the thing anymore. That's when I portion it and freeze it to use later.

Admittedly when I thaw it I usually chop it up and use it in recipes or eggs or something and don't serve the slices for dinner or anything.

Is it sliced.. it wont be good for much if it is.. but If its whole

I use it in stews
soups
omlettes
Ham salad


just about anything really

The bone freezes well too. I usually saw mine in half and use each piece for a pot of beans or pea soup.

I rarely eat fresh ham. I buy it in bulk, dice it and freeze it. I thaws quickly and works great in fried rice, eggs, etc. The texture will change a bit, but it works fine for my purposes.
