Question Ground Pork sell by date

How long does ground pork remain good past the sell by date when properly stored? It isn't odorous or slimy or dark. Sell by date 6 Nov 17.

Sell by dates are imprecise at best. A few days past the SB date S/B OK.

Freeze any meat you do not plan to use right away.

I think the best way to tell is to unwrap it and check it yourself..smell is probably the best way . Touch it, is it slimy. You should be able to decide after giving it this quick check.

Pork here is a tricky thing. I've often found it's bad before the date, and fewer times got lucky and found it good a few days past due.

Like Rock says, use your nose and touch. But err on the side of what you and yours can handle. Not everyone gets sick from dodgy meat, but many folks would be headed to the bathroom, or hospital.
The past is gone it's all been said.

I find it very variable. It seems to depend on packaging. One brand I buy is still good a week and a half past the sell by date, but the packaging is very air tight. I use Rock's sniff and feel tests.
