Alix's I Won thread got me thinking about cooking and recipe contests. I've never thought to enter one; in fact, I'm not even sure how to find out about the smaller ones. I thought maybe we could start a thread to keep each other updated when we see contests announced that we want to share with each other and links to resources about contests.

Here are a few I came up with from Googling.

http://www.recipecontests.com/ Looks like you have to buy a subscription to this one

The last one has a listing of some of the contests.

Anyone interested in BBQ contests, just holler and we'll see if we can hook you up.

This fall, just in time for you local county/state fair, find out how to enter their cooking contests. Traditionally there is a baking contest for breads, cookies, cakes, etc. While I lived in Tulsa, OK, I found out that there is also a cooking contest for entrees. Due to the perishable nature of those foods, they aren't displayed during the fair itself. I bought a cookbook that included all the recipes entered for that year. I also found out that professionals were NOT barred from competing. I always thought that was an unfair advantage, myself. I never got around to entering.

You might want to write/email the editor of your local newspaper and ask for the scheduled calender cooking contests in your area.
