chinese whispers is a game (based on reality). You sit in a circle or a line. One peroson starts off whispering a thought to the next. This is passed, one by one through the group and the last person states what they heard. This is compared to the original line and is usually vastly different. It is also a description of the rumour and gossip that circulates through any group, usually only vaguely linked to reality.
