For chinese especially cantonese, they love soup. Hope u all will like this soup too. Cause it's one of my fav.

Ingredients:

Fresh lotus cut into slices
Dried cuttlefish cut into pieces
Pork ribs
1/2 bowl of peanuts
Some salt

1. Boiled a pot of water. Scald the pork ribs to remove the smell.

2. Add everytings into the pot, cook it under high heat for 20min. Then lower the heat. Add in salt as seasoning. Brew it for 4hrs.

U know its ready when the colour changes to brownish colour. Like mine.

It's really hard to compare the flavor of lotus root to anything. I can think of a couple of things that are similar, but then you'd have had to taste those as well. The closest thing that I can think of is taro root, but then you'd have had to have tried taro root. Jicama is the second closest thing that I can think of, but jicama lacks that subtle earthiness and is less fibrous in texture than lotus root.

Actually we usually drink the soup & leave the ingredients aside.

Hmmm as in what it tasted like... really hard to define... for me...

BUt there are dishes using lotus as main ingredients too. I just saw one dishes on the show just now where they had fried & stir fry lotus in one dish. Look great.
