Barley is a grain and it adds a nice nutty flavor with a chewy texture and provides lots of fiber. You can find in the rice section of your store.

Barley rocks, BC. It's like big rice, but it's different.

Barley is just as good for you as oatmeal, which I hate and detest. And Barley tastes good!

Alright....... I've got everything I need to make this, and just realized it says "Beef Base" not "Beef Broth".... I've got both Beef Broth and Beef Bullion Cubes. Will either of these work? Or should I go buy some Beef Base?

You can use either one. You are looking for 8 cups of beef broth. I just like to use beef base when a recipe needs beef broth.
