Jambalya

Is jambalaya a casseole? If so, anyone cook it in a roaster oven? I need to cook for about 25 people, and want to use a roaster oven, but have never done anything like this before. Turkeys, roasts, loins, ec., but never a meal like this.

Jack,
never having made this tasty dish, I'd consider it a one dish type meal. I believe most casseroles are cooked in the oven..This would be made in a large stove top skillet. I don't see why it can't be put into a large roaster oven to finish cooking. Anything that needs browning would be done in a skillet first..I don't think the complete dish needs more than 30-40 min cooking.. I'm sure one of our members has had expierience making this and will come give you some help.

Traditionally jambalaya is cooked in a single large pot. Cast iron preferably!
After that you need a recipe. This site and Google will give you hundreds.
Any adaptations to recipes and cooking methods are yours to make..

Just have fun and Enjoy!

I use a heavy saute pan to saute the veggies and brown the meat. When I get to the point where I add the rice and broth, it goes into the oven to finish in the same pan.

If necessary, you could do it in two different pans, one to saute and one to bake in the oven.
