I used to have a 'from scratch' recipe that was similar. I can remember that it included the tuna, (or salmon), sliced mushrooms, penne pasta, water, milk, diced onions, worchestershire sauce, salt, pepper etc, and topped with bread crumbs and cheese. I suspect it also included a sachet of onion soup mix (or something similar) to help it thicken. Baked and served with crusty bread and a salad. When I was at college and in the lean years after, my friend and I lived on it. Until a friend told me that it was awful!

It might be time to re-try this old favourite!
