Trying a Beef Stew recipe in my Crock Pot. Can someone suggest a thickener to add to the stew to thicken it up?

Flour(roux), Cornstarch, Arrowroot, Instant Potato Flakes or Tapioca. Which would thicken better with no aftertaste?
Beurre manie (butter and flour mixed together) or flour roux (the latter is easier). Haven't used instant potato but think I wouldn't like it! Have never used tapioca - had enough of the disgusting stuff for school dinners!

You could also try mashing some of the potato chunks in the stew and mixing that in as a thickener. The potato will absorb some small amount of the liquid and the starch released from the potato will thicken the stew a bit. (sort of like using instant mashed potato flakes/buds)
