Hello from a Budding Southern Cook

Hi, everyone:

I am new to this website and just wanted to introduce myself. I am a southern girl based in the Midwest and I am trying to reconnect to the lesser-known cooking traditions and culinary history of the Inner Banks of North Carolina. Since I can't stop by the local restaurant or pop over to my grandmother's house, I have to really buckle down and keep those culinary traditions alive.

I am also very interested in building a decent repertoire of Mid-Atlantic coastal recipes...and I would like to collect some good, older cookbooks that are not commercially available (i.e., Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, Young Baptist Women circa 1983, etc.)...

Also, I am trying to learn to be better on the charcoal grill this summer (so, please, wish me luck, y'all ).

Hope to see you around!

Hello and welcome to DC.

I'm a Northerner and this afternoon while doing an internet search for a Southern style recipe, I ran across these two web sites you and perhaps others may find interesting. ( went back and looked them up again.)

Enjoy your stay with DC.

Welcome to D.C.!
I will see if I can put together some of the types of recipes you are interested in when I can find the time.
