Happy New Years Eve or New years, depending on where your at. This is the first time (and therefore the first forum) in which I've come without an alias. Totally using my own name/identity, for once, instead of some stuff like 'Princess Zappa Star <- like that'd be the day! Anyway, its a new year and a new leaf, right?

My resolution? To write a family cookbook that will take the generations into the next 100 years. I figured why not, I already quit smoking.

Such a weird intro  I'm Michelle and I think I've gone nuts because my kids made me a grandmother by the age of 40. Now what's in front of you is the product of being the insane mother of 5 and granny of 3 ;)

Cannot wait to get chatty.

A big welcome to you MichelleMarie. Such a pretty name. I've been Kayelle on line as long as I can remember. My real first name is Kathy-Lee, so KL are the initials my late husband always called me. We would have named a girl Kayelle if we had one. I bet my two boys wouldn't have wanted it.
You're gonna love it here and glad you came.

Welcome to DC!

Kay, you could have named one of your boys Kal-El, like Superman!

Welcome Michelle!

I'm Steve Kroll and I also choose to use my real name online. We're a pretty friendly bunch, and it's always nice to know who you're talking to, right? :)

Thanks a bunch guys! I didn't actually expect anyone to be online :) Figured everyone to be at a party or something. Kayelle, I like the story of how your name came about. Very cool.

Nice to meet you all.

Hi MichelleMarie.

You made your membership just under the wire. Now, next year on your anniversary you can say you are a member for 2 years instead of just one year and a day. I'm pretty good at math and my name is Fred.

Ooh, thank you guys so much. This is the friendliest forum I've ever happened upon. Must be all the good cheer bubbling forth to greet the new year. It is very nice to meet all of you! We have an hour till the new year crosses over our part of the US so I should go find something to make a lot of noise with. Have a good night and I will see you all in soon.

Hi MichelleMarie. Everyone around here knows me as Chief Longwind of the North. It fits me. I can be long-winded, and am chief of my own kitchen. I love to share what I know about cooking, learn what others know and are willing to share, and joke around a bit every now and again.

That's enough about me. We're happy you joined out little group and are looking forward to your company.

Thank you. This year is looking very nice so far, with the addition of all of you. We had a good time bringing in the new year last night. My nine year old even made it through. How did everyone else's evening go? I sure hope it was a safe one for all.

Welcome, Michelle! A happy new year (and happy new DC life) to you! Glad to hear you all had a great new year's eve, including your youngster.

Himself is retired after working 4-midnight a number of years, so we are dyed-in-the-wool night owls at our house. Midnight is like dinnertime for us. At least by staying up late we actually get the chance to listen to our neighborhood owls - great horned, to be exact.

Glad to have you around DC. Looks like you're going to be a great addition to the "family".

Well, welcome Michelle. You have just come upon probably the friendliest forum there is on the Internet. This forum consists of a great bunch of very diversified people, filled with laughter and good cheer. But the best part is they share it all on the drop of a giggle or laughter. Lots of information passes back and forth, problems of the world are solved here.

I will let you in on a secret. We just love food porn. So send along any pictures of food and pets.

Well, food porn may be on your way, dear Addie. Was going to make my bread tomorrow and my littlest is at the age to learn the recipe. I was going to take pictures for my mother so, it would be easy to send a few this way. :D

Welcome MichelleMarie! I am PrincessFiona, hubby is Shrek, we have 1 kitten and two cats. I'm an RN working night shifts and Shrek is retired. I was named PrincessFiona by my best friend as she called me an Ogre one day and it has stuck. I hope you enjoy our little corner of the Internet.

Take some of that great bread dough and turn it into pigs-in-the -snowman. I came up with the idea out of thin air, before the grandkids came up. My daughter loved the idea as well. We had high quality hotdogs, and cut them into suialbly sized pieces to make a head, body, and base for the snowmen. The grandaughters, ages 6 and 4, loved wrapping the dough around the hotdogs and making the snowmen by placing them onto the cookie sheet, with the head, middle, and base layed so that when they baked, the parts would bake together. We used sliced black olives cut in half for mouths and arms, and chopped more for the eyes, nose, and buttons.

When done, they were scarfed up by the non-stop girls. It was a fun way to get them into the kitchen. Just sharing.
