New here...

My name says it all-my tried and true Christmas Cookie recipe bailed out on me-expensive ingredients,time-consuming, blegh!!!
I came here for help and after reading a bit, I feel better...Thanks!

Please excuse my rant! I'll be back!!

Sorry about your flub, fedup. We all have them. Maybe there were gremlins in your kitchen. Just out of curiosity, what kind of cookies were they? Glad you found us anyway. Welcome to DC.

Hi Katie, These were "Holiday Fruit Cookies" , recipe from my ancient "Amy Vanderbilt Complete Cookbook" (40 yrs. old, perhaps!) First batch were delicious, if flat; DH fixed them; they LOOKED MARVELOUS! nuf said; DH is retired and does most of the cooking around here(I cook when the mood strikes). I like to cook but it's not "the-end -all- be- all" for me. I really like the feel of this site,though...maybe it will get me back into cooking more often...

By the way DH signed up here , too!
