Hi all,
I grew up in Virginia, waaaay out in the country. We ate what ever was put on the table and were thankful to have it.

I never really learned to cook, but I did own a donut shop for about 12 years. We also did a basic breakfast, biscuits and gravy, hamburgers, fries, and a few other dishes. We made s super gravy, someone gave me a couple of pointers and it really came out good.

I get to look up a lot of information for the wife, she is Japanese, and loves to try different dishes.

More next time

Welcome to DC, Frank!! Stick around, you and your wife will be having all types of foods that you BOTH cooked and you'll wonder what you did before you learned to cook!

Bienvenue, Frank. I'm a fake Virginian, living here for 15 years and still not knowing much about authentic Southside food. Can you enlighten me?

Biscuits and gravy, fried fingerling catfish, fried country ham, and grits, now that is a proper breakfast.

Unfortunately cannot find the fingerling catfish anyore.

Sigh.
