Hi and welcome! I'm a vegetarian and love reading veggie blogs! I just book marked yours and look forward to trying some recipes on it!

My husband is not a vegetarian and thinks its very cool you are a veggie chef but still like meat and dairy!

CK, welcome aboard.

We are not vegetarians at all, but often eat vegetarian dishes, not just as sides, simply because we like many of them.

Your blog looks great, have to spend some more time looking at it.

Thought it was interesting the way you mix English and metric measurements, even in the same recipe.

Just curious, is that something Canadians are used to doing?

Welcome aboard and am looking forward to your posts.

Yes, indeed, we use metric and English all the time. It's very interchangeable. Mix in the fact that I'm French Canadian and you have a real melting pot of weird vocabulary going on there.

I added myself to the map. W00t!

I think the word omnivore is far more fair. I like meat but within reason and I can go days without eating any of it. Just relying on beans, grains and dairy to be my source of protein. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE slow cooked meats, barbecues, etc. Just sometimes, tofu, tempeh, or seitan just hits the spot a million times better.

For the faux sour cream, here goes. This comes from the cookbook, la Dolce Vegan from Sarah Kramer (govegan.net) - very cool vegan lady. I'm a big fan of her books.:

Ingredients
  • 1oz package soft or silken tofu
  • 1tbsp oil
  • 1tbsp lemon juice
  • 2tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1tsp sugar
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1tbsp tamari
Instructions

blend in a blender or food processer until smooth.

This normally keeps for up to 3 days.

So thanks all for the very warm welcome. I've already learned alot by going through the forum about braising.. :D
