Sounds about right for the chipotles but too many beans.

That's ok cause I'm entering the chili flavored stew category!

BTW, 2 chipotles wasn't enough so I added another (large) one, as well as some Hershey's chocolate. After it was all done cooking I tasted it and it could use more spice. I suppose it will taste more spicey tomorrow though.

I pureed the remainder of the can (about 2/3) with a can of tomatoes to freeze and will add the whole thing next time I make chili.

Glad it worked out for you. Of course with spice it helps to sneak up on it instead o finding out it will mug you.

An update on the chili cook-off. There are 8 or so pots of chili, and all of them have beans from what I can see. What can I say, I'm in Virginia and I guess we love beans!

Didn't win, or even get second place. Most entries were pretty spicy. I'm ok with it though. I got many compliments on it, and mine was the first entry to be gone when they opened it up for general consumption. Next time I will put more chipotles and other peppers! I'll no doubt check out the competition recipes too.
