Cucumber Sauce

Help me. I need a good recipe for cucumber sauce for gyros and I can't find it in any stores around here.

That is a good one middie - the times when I am out of yogurt, I have used sour cream , still good.

I have also used a combination of yogurt and sour cream when I've REALLY been in a pinch. But I'm sure there are recipes out there that use both.

I think I also use lemon in mine and no mint. Middie - this is like asking for a spaghetti sauce recipe LOVE the stuff though!

GotGarlic et al have pretty much nailed it - if you wanted to do a web search look for tzatzki and yes, it's like spaghetti sauce in that there are as many recipes as there are cooks. I used Alton Brown's recipe when I made gyros last year per his oven method- go to Food Network : Healthy Recipe Collections, Party Ideas, Quick & Easy Recipes, Cooking Videos and search gyros. There are several good sauce recomendations.

A little late but Mayo mixed with milk works well too, not as skinny as the yogurt though!
