Kyles, you obviously know what to drink. I love framboise. But my favourite beer of all is Kriek, the cherry beer, particularly the Saint Louis.
Anyway, you can use the same recipe to make cassis but it's not the same fruit: "cassis" is black currant, "groseille rouge" is red currant.

I have just got used to Kriek, when I was a kid I had very bad asthma and had to have cherry flavoured medicine, and Kriek reminds me of that, well it did at first but I am getting over that now

I wish I had a garden, my parents used to grow blackcurrant bushes, they are prolific fruiters, you only need one or two to give you enough crop for a few bottles of cordial and some jars of jelly.

Balibar & Kyles--good info, both. All this stuff is new to me.
Balibar, would vodka be a good liquor choice when making your red currant liquor?
