Vodka in Tomato Sauce????

but what do these flavors taste like? I am still wondering what I am supposed to taste after I add the vodka....
 
I have a very hard time describing flavors, but the best I can do is describe it as a sweetness. Not sugary, but there is a sweetness that is not there without the alcohol.
