Vodka in Tomato Sauce????

The point of using vodka is that is has almost no flavor. You just use the vodka to bring out the alcohol soluble flavors in other foods (like tomatoes). These are flavors that you would not taste unless in the presence of alcohol.....

but what do these flavors taste like? I am still wondering what I am supposed to taste after I add the vodka....

I have a very hard time describing flavors, but the best I can do is describe it as a sweetness. Not sugary, but there is a sweetness that is not there without the alcohol.
