Hot Slaw
makes approximately 9 pints

1 Gallon cabbage, shredded
3 large onions, thinly sliced and separated
2 bell peppers, thinly sliced
3 cups sugar
3 carrots, grated
1 cup white vinegar
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons red pepper
3 cups mustard

Mix and boil 20 minutes. Pack in jars and seal. Great on hamburgers, hotdogs, barbecue, and ham sandwiches.

Oh Lori,

And we just had burgers for dinner. This would have been great on them. This slaw sounds very similar to the Salvadorian one I make for the pupusas, except I add oregano instead of the spicey pepper. Thanks for posting it.
