This is the way I was taught to make ranch dressing:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
# 1 cup mayonnaise # 1 cup buttermilk
# 2 Tbsp. green onions, minced (tops only, or use chives)
# 1/4 tsp. onion powder, or 1 Tbsp. fresh onion, minced
# 2 tsp. parsley, minced
# 1/2 tsp. oregano
# 1/4 tsp. garlic powder, or 1/2 to 1 garlic clove, finely minced
1/4 tsp. paprika
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper

Combine it all-I make it in washed out 1 qt sized yogurt container..shake well, chill. Eat in two weeks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone have a simplification of this? I can't test it myself, since I'm allergic to a preservative commonly used in commercial mayonnaise.

You could make it with homemade mayo.

That's not a simplification, but if you can't use this recipe because it contains commercial mayo, making the substitution may be worth it.

Homemade mayo is a snap to make if you have a blender or food processor.
