ISO advice using a sandwich maker

I just yesterday bought a sandwich maker with sandwich and grill plates. We had sandwich in dinner, it is making very good brown and crispy sandwich. For the first time I am making sandwich in sandwich maker.

Yesterday my sandwich became soggy, I realized the reason, fillings like onions, capsicums, tomatoes are taken directly from the fridge so they are releasing lots of moisture.
