Like Cheryl and Dawg, I'm a big believer in the Nesco 6 qt. roaster with it's removable light weight cookwell. With it's variable temperatures, it's the most versatile multi use appliance I own and there's nothing it can't do, including casseroles.

Thanks for all the input...It's a very heavy 3 1/2 quart crockpot casserole cooker and the insert is very heavy...I'm using CP liners in it but would like to know if anyone has done any baking in it? (cakes, pies, etc.) I have a very small senior efficiency apt. and really need counter high appliances and this fills the bill for most everything. I'm going to make a 9x12 cake in it but wanted to see if anyone had done so first. Thanks for input.

I don't see why you couldn't, but the removable cooking well is not heavy crockery, so I don't see the point in using a liner in a Nesco roaster. It's easy to wash in the sink.
