I shall follow the advice of my appliance fix-it man. He is very and goes everywhere fixing stuff for folks. He knows what is good and reliable and what is not.

I called him once during business hours hoping to pick his brain and he was in the middle of a big job. I called him after business hours and he was still working. He promised to call me back when he's done.

My guy just called me back. I told him everything and he said that ranges were the one appliance that he didn't have a strong opinion on. He said that he fixes them all and it comes down to the luck of the draw. Sometimes you get one that you love and lasts forever and sometimes you get a lemon and have to suffer. He said that his was a Frigidaire and that he's had it for 12 years and had never had to do a thing to it, but I might not have the same experience.

I'll look at the GE next time I go to Home Depot. I will examine it closely. As of now I'm still leaning toward the Frigidaire.
