The Whirlpool Corporation, America's largest major home appliance maker, is one step closer to sealing the deal with owning the Maytag Corporation.

Maytag, the country's 3rd largest appliance company, has been beset by lagging sales and a slumping economy, has probably been looking for a way to get out of the appliance- making business, possibly because of scores of class-action lawsuits filed by scores of dissatisfied owners who have invested untold amounts of money into their ill-fated major applainces.

Also, skyrocketing debts as well, have contributed to the comany's downfall. The
quality in their products might have started to go down sometime after the 09-11 terror attacks.

Maytag was once on top of the world. Back in the '50s, '60s and right into the '90s, Maytag made and sold good quality major appliances. Since the 21st century has begun, Maytag started making Norge / Admiral look-alike washers & dryers which were no good when those two co.'s were in existance back in the '60s & '70s.

Now, there's no more trust and faith in the company's products because the
company makes crappy appliances and no one trusts them any more.
Consumers should soon start to see the Maytag name disappear in the very near future.:)

Whirlpool has successfully aquired Maytag.

The Maytag name will remain on their large appliances, but their products will now be made by Whirlpool.

I suppose ownership by Whirlpool could be a good thing. There were many complaints about Maytag's Neptune series washers, and their absence of a viewing window. The operator could not see what was going on in the machine. Also, there were problems with their door seals. It would be nice to see Whirlpool continue the Maytag line, and maybe bring the quality of the appliances back to their original glory. I see it as a much better proposition than Maytag being owned by a Chinese company.

Yes, they do make the K'Aid Stand Mixers.

Yeah, Maytag's quality in their large appliances in the last 12 years has gone right down the crapper!

And incidently, there WAS a class-action lawsuit out on them because of the declining quality in those Neptune series washers & dryers and their crappy service when the machines broke down.

Their top-loading washers - one concidered to be the cream of the crop back in the '50s to the mid '90s, has also gone done in quality as well. If you go to http://www.epinions.com and read up on Maytag's products, you'll find that most members who wrote about them had something terrible to say about them.
Even their refrigerators, stoves and air conditioners have complaints on them!
