I'd love to have a quasi-commercial kitchen (but with residential features) but neither of our two homes has anything close nor is there reasonable potential to remodel to get closer.
I have a GE Profile ceramic top at our house in town and we HATE it. Burner output is anemic compared to the Whirlpool Gold we have at our country house. For a smoothtop, the Whirlpool isn't half bad. We will probably replace the GE with something else although guests are impressed with its look.
I prefer gas ... love the "instant" heat control. But, since I'm renting a house in an "all electric" community - gas isn't an option (I don't think we even have gas lines out here) ... even if I was willing to shell out the $$$ for a gas stove.
