I just realized that I never updated you guys....
I did finally get a 1961 copy at a thrift store for a whole dollar!!! love those kind of deals, even if the book is a bit over my head.

After reading this thread I decided that I too must have a copy. I got in on ebay. 1961 edition for 5.00 Haven't received it yet but waiting eagerly for it's arrival.

If you're going to get this book, I would highly recommend getting the 2001 edition which I believe is the most current. The older versions focus pretty much only on French cuisine. The new version includes much more global-type cuisines like Italian, Asian, Latin, etc. I mean, you wouldn't buy an Apple IIe for photo editing...

KathyJ, congratulations.
I own the same edition, but I bought it for way more than U$S 1 LOL. It is the French Encyclopedia of Cooking and if I am not mistaken this was the first American edition. By the way, Larousse is a French House that publishes...you guessed it: encyclopedias.
