Question Hamilton Beach Cordless Cookie Press?

Hi, Does anyone out there own a Hamilton Beach cordless cookie press?? I just got one and it's battery operated. I can't seem to get the rod to catch on the base part so that the cookie press will work. Any thoughts? Do any of you have this problem either??

Thanks!
