To grate ginger, horseradish, etc, or to remove cherry or olive pits?

I think it's kind of neat.
It would be nice to capture the gratings right there on the tool for access instead of grating over the food or a cutting board/plate. Plus I don't like the way the gratings get stuck in the curves on the side of my microplane.
