Picked up a big heavy granite one today from marshalls for $10 on clearance.
I can't wait to play with it even though I used the glass one to make dinner. I am sorta thinking that it will be harder to scoop the ground herbs out. I am also thinking about making a paste and cooking lamb with it, but how do I get the goo out of the mortar when I am finished?
I just push it out with the pestle and then grab a spoon or a mini spatula or a butter knife, whatever is easiest to use/grab and depending on what I have just made, ie a knife would suck for a vinaigrette!!
If worse comes to the worse, a clean or gloved hand.
