I had a few friends over today and upon their arrival, i was holding a 'Salinometer' and they were wondering "what in the heck is that"?.....Without looking it up, how many of you know what it is?

My guess would be that it measures salinity.

Yep SierraCook is right 
Actually to take it one step further is measures salinity in a solution. I don't think you can use it to measure how salty your cracker is.

Nope, can't test that salty cracker
I was making jerky though and after ruining a few batches, it's worth it's weight in gold.

We use something like that to measure the salinity in our salt water fish tank. What else would you use it for?

To test the salt content of brines so you don't over salt batches of jerky.
