Just got a few cast iron bacon presses that have wood handles, and I need to season them. I usually rub cast iron with shortening then bake at 350 for about an hour to season. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this with itmes with wooden handles, and if so did they burn? Is there a better way to season these? Should I perhaps soak the handles in water?

:chef: thanks for the help, it worked wonderfully - no burning of the handle, it did darken slightly but actually looks closer to matching the wood stains in my kitchen.
