that would be my guess, as well. One thing to remember is that the digital thermometers register at the tip, whereas the analog instant reads register and inch or so up from the tip.

I absolutely love my Thermapen. I used it for the Thanksgiving turkey last year, and when the Thermapen read done, the little popout thing that most people trust hadn't budged. The turkey was absolute perfection.... Got raves from everyone.
