Just came back from Paris with two pieces. A 11" or so frying pan and I believe a 3qt sauce pot. Both Mauviel Cuprinox Style (2mm with stainless handles) from E Dehillerin.

I wanted the Cuprinox Extra Thick but they ran out of the 12" fry pan and I was leaving that day. But the style ones are nice, they're thicker than the "pour la table" ones and they have curved lips. I like the industrial look of the cast iron handles but the stainless handles are ok.

Got them both for $190 Euro which is about $247, so I think I got a decent deal.

My family is still there for 3 more months. I'm wondering if I should get more pieces. Any piece I should not be without? A smaller sauce? One of those curved saucier thingies?
