I finally decided

After looking and reading and researching and wondering and wandering...

I placed my order for the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro S/S 12 piece cookware set through Amazon. It was $229.90 when I ordered it, but since then, the price dropped to $224.88 and I get it at the lower price. Still probably going to want a good 12" nonstick skillet.

Was also reading a long and convoluted thread about knives and blocks and accessorizing the kitchen with the fore mentioned items... anyhow there was a recommendation for the Edgemaker Pro and I ordered one of those. As soon as I formulate my query about knives, I'll post on the Knives forum.

Even though I'm not a really good cook, I like this site and hope to learn some things that will make me better at it.

Good luck with your new cookware. I think you made a good choice.

Delivered today. Pan fried some boneless chicken thighs in EVOO. Turned out pretty good and I surprised myself in that only the first piece gave me trouble with a little sticking. Gonna be a learning curve, but I think it'll be worth the effort. Thanks to everyone for all the input.
