I feel I should clarify my statement. I use oil all the time in my cast iron. For seasoning I would only use shortning but that's just me. I feel like oil makes it sticky but I suppose that could also be if you use too much.

After all that let me just say I agree with everyone!!

i'd scrub your pan with kosher salt & wipe with paper towels.
