Hi. I live in the northwest of England. I often shop online but I'm willing to travel to a shop if necessary.

I want to buy some nice crockery for my own personal use - there's just me living here! I really like the look of Steelite Simplicity White crockery.

But the online websites that have it charge for a case of items at a time, as though suitable for a catering company.

Is there anywhere to buy such nice crockery as individual pieces?

Can't help with Blackpool but try Fleetwood Freeport or whatever it calls itself these days - there seem to be several china shops and home-ware outlets there. I haven't been for a while so can't be too precise. There's also a big china shop in Southport but I can't remember it's name.

If you fancy a trip to Manchester, there's Harvey Nicks (Nichols!), Debenhams and House of Fraser (used to be Kendals). Not sure if Selfridges have a china department these days and you could strike lucky in TK Max.

John Lewis is an excellent place for white china but I'm not sure where your nearest branch would be - the Cheadle (near Stockport) branch is only a hop & a skip from Manchester via the motorway.

Most china departments and specialist shops will sell individual items. And the larger stores do home delivery through their websites.

I bet you didn't think you'd get that much info about the NW of England when you enquired on an American "Discuss Cooking" ;)! You struck lucky with a local girl.

Hi Richard (again). A friend has just called and asked me what I was doing. I told her about your quest and she told me that Pro-Cook at Fleetwood has a couple of ranges of white china - quite reasonably priced, too. Hope all this "rabbitting" is helpful.

And I am not even in Uk at but was talking to my friends if they knew any stores and now they are asking mums and grans about it.. and we are all getting to Fleetwood.. So go there.
