Wok is the best for Thai food (I've been lived in Asia for 4 years, and have seen what they are using for cooking their delicious staff in small food stalls). Wok sounds more authentically if you are going to cook mostly Thai food.

Carbon steel fry pan hands down the best cookware for stir-frying. You can use a wok, which is likely carbon steel anyway, but the shape of fry pan what I prefer.

I use both. I do most of my stir fry in a carbon steel (Atlas) wok, but when I make fried rice with leftovers, it's the carbon steel frying pan, every time.
