I have always cooked on a good old-fashioned coil-element electric range & still have & use weekly, if not more, the authentic round-bottom carbon steel wok my mom bought me back in 1974. Came with a "ring" so it sits directly on the coils, but sits level. I LOVE it. Mom bought it from a local Asian grocery store - still a good place to go when looking for authentic traditional Asian cooking tools. I wouldn't trade it for all the fancy-schmancy new-fangled electric woks in the world.
