Bread & butter pickles - substitution of ingred.
Hi, kids! It's that time of the year again. I am making bread & butter pickles and always use the same recipe. The one from Kate Aitken cookbook. I don't wish to start looking for another.
The pickles have to be done today. The sliced cucs and onions have been soaking in brine all night. But I am out of WHOLE mustard seed and we live many miles from a grocery store.
Can I substitute ground mustard seed? Not the Keen's mustard powder, but the "ground mustard seed" in a cellophane package in the Spice Section?
