Actually, it was most a half bushel--minus the boxful I took into work this morning, and the ones I ate.

Delicious, luscious, drip down your arms peaches, fresh from the orchard yesterday, perfectly ripe today.

I sliced them into acidulated water, but I don't have any pectin for the jam I want to make, so that will wait til tomorrow.

My kitchen smells great.

Oh, send me some jam. I can't can this year. Is that a contradiction in terms?

We've probably eaten more peaches this year than in the last 5 years. They have been so good. Also, we have eaten them just as is = no recipe, nothing added. I really hate to see the season end.

I don't eat sugar, so this jam is heading to other people's pantries. Joesfolk, you aren't a long lost cousin, are you?

Last year, my Christmas present to everyone was a basket of canned goods--salsa, lemon curd, balsamic-white wine-roasted garlic jelly, wild grape jelly and peach preserves. Everyone raved, so they will be getting something similar this year. Don't tell anyone, but it is cheaper and WAY more fun than shopping.
