Post Pickled Plums Problem !!!

I have just recently pickled an endless amount of plums in a spicy syrup (like I always do), but for some reason they have started to fizz and ferment, this could be one of a number of wrong doings, but what I want to know is how can I save them?? can anyone out there help?? because I do not want to throw them away, that would be way to wasteful.
Thank you in advance.

If they are fizzing, toss them (in a safe manner so children or animals cannot get to them). Cheaper than the cost of hospital treatment for food poisoning.

I'm curious what recipe/method you are using for preserving your plums in spicy sauce.
