What's the best way to freeze fresh coconut?

I have some fresh coconut already cut into smaller pieces and I would like to freeze some of it. Can I just freeze it as is or do I have to grate it first?

Not sure, but I would think it would lose less moisture if you left it in chunks, then pulled it out, thawed and grated it. Hm. After looking it up, you're OK either way.
