I quit after 15-17 years and can offer some ideas on satisfying the urge while quitting.

The most important thing for me was to promise myself and no one else that I wanted to quit. If you promise someone, and fail, you'll just try to hide the smoking from them. In turn, lying....which causes stress and make you want to smoke even more.

Good luck to all of you that are trying to quit. I don't know how many times I tried before I finally did on 01/29/08. It's been almost 5 months for me and I don't want one anymore.
