So how did everyone's Thansgiving go? There was a bit of drama at my home, as usual. My only offspring still at home is my 25 year old son. He moved back in about Aug. Said he was only going to be around long enough to save up some cash and move out West to the Seattle area. My DW asked if he could take the day off from work and spend the holiday with us. He took the day off and spent it with his friends. He is the one who always take it personally whenever anyone ever tries to tease him, like his eldest sister. Last Christmas, they got in a big battle when she was just goofing around and he took exception. There were tears and bad feelings. He said that this year, he just wanted to avoid the hassles, and that there was always a fight at get togethers. Funny thing is, there isn't, unless he's around. So anyways, one turkey on the grill, one in the oven, 2 pumpin pies, a cheesecake, home made cranberry sauce, 2 sweet potato pies, and to loaves worth of home made dinner rolls, not to mention the stuffing and Knox Blocks, and that's just what I took to my sisters. Lots of left-overs, and everyone had a great time. My boy, well he just missed out.

My youngest daughter, and her oldest brother and her wife are getting together today as he my eldest son had to work yesterday (he's a fireman). My baby is cooking the turkey, and a dump-cake (throw some fruit filling in a rectangular pan, dump a yellow or whatever flavor cake mix on top, drizzle with a sick of butter, sprinkle on broken walnuts and bake, yum.). She's been calling me all day with "Dad, how do you do this, and Dad, how do you do that? It's a treat to hear her voice and know that she relies on me, even though she's now a married woman. I love being a Dad.

Now, move over. I cooked for two days and into the wee hours of the night on Wednsday. I need some of this hot, bubbling water. Ahhhhhhhh.

Ya know, I'm not so old or decrepit that I can't give a good, fast, albeit short sprint to safety. I've played this game for a long time now. Just ask some of the DC'rs who have been around for a while. But I did make that promise to behave, and I'm a man of my word. Now who wants some of this grand turkey/ And who's got some cranberry sauce to go with it? I'm humgry.

Goodweed, turkey sounds great. You know the perfect way to ask for forgiveness. And a snowball in a hot tub wouldn't last long and it would make for a good laugh.

Goodweed sneaks into the hot tub area with three snowballs. His stealth is amazing. As he peeks from around a corner, sizing up his next victim, he chuckles. There they are, a bunch of friends with not a care in the world, enjoying whatever beverage and goodies that have been brought to them, like spoiled, rich kids. He grasps a snowball in his hand and prepares to liven things up a bit.

"Hey everybody. GW's hiding around the West shrubbery with a bunch of snowballs! Let's get 'im."

Goodweed recognizes the voice but knows he needs to skidaddle, and quick. The snowballs lay melting on the ground as he high-tails it to safety. He knows his story has to be good, and that he needs a perfect alibi to undo the desire of his friends to punish him accordingly. And then, he comes to his senses and decides to just admit to the deed and give himself up, counting on the forgiving nature of his friends. Well, here goes...

"Hi everyone. Yup, it was me. And I got caught. I don't know why I was feeling so rascally. Seems I was remembering another hot tub from a year or so back. But I made a promise to all of you that I'd behave. So the snowballs are melting on the ground, unused. Please forgive that boyish side of me. I have a freshly smoked turkey still hot in the car. Anyone care to share it with me?"
