So how did everyone's Thansgiving go? There was a bit of drama at my home, as usual. My only offspring still at home is my 25 year old son. He moved back in about Aug. Said he was only going to be around long enough to save up some cash and move out West to the Seattle area. My DW asked if he could take the day off from work and spend the holiday with us. He took the day off and spent it with his friends. He is the one who always take it personally whenever anyone ever tries to tease him, like his eldest sister. Last Christmas, they got in a big battle when she was just goofing around and he took exception. There were tears and bad feelings. He said that this year, he just wanted to avoid the hassles, and that there was always a fight at get togethers. Funny thing is, there isn't, unless he's around. So anyways, one turkey on the grill, one in the oven, 2 pumpin pies, a cheesecake, home made cranberry sauce, 2 sweet potato pies, and to loaves worth of home made dinner rolls, not to mention the stuffing and Knox Blocks, and that's just what I took to my sisters. Lots of left-overs, and everyone had a great time. My boy, well he just missed out.
My youngest daughter, and her oldest brother and her wife are getting together today as he my eldest son had to work yesterday (he's a fireman). My baby is cooking the turkey, and a dump-cake (throw some fruit filling in a rectangular pan, dump a yellow or whatever flavor cake mix on top, drizzle with a sick of butter, sprinkle on broken walnuts and bake, yum.). She's been calling me all day with "Dad, how do you do this, and Dad, how do you do that? It's a treat to hear her voice and know that she relies on me, even though she's now a married woman. I love being a Dad.
Now, move over. I cooked for two days and into the wee hours of the night on Wednsday. I need some of this hot, bubbling water. Ahhhhhhhh.
