I was being nice? Some of us don't choose our location, it chooses us. And some of us are in exile... :-(

Takes one to know one, Chief. ;-) Glad to hear you two are on the mend. We're trying to stay warm with these single-digit temps. You people around the UP sure are a hardy lot!

I don't know. I remember one time he said he was the overnight engineer for CBS "Up to the Minute" news. The few times I've seen them roll credits (quickly) I've tried to catch someone who's first name is Tom but haven't had any success. With some of the stories he would tell us I'm seriously afraid he's fallen over the edge of a boat fishing somewhere in the ocean. I haven't been able to think of anyone on this board who might know enough personal information to contact him, but wouldn't an Administrator have an email they might be able to contact him with? We all had to give an email address when we signed up, but after a number of years I would think some of the email addresses are no longer valid. Fingers crossed and prayers going up that he'll show up sometime...

You are one of the first people I befriended here eons ago. We had talks around the "pool" and in various threads and I felt very comfortable talking with you like an old friend. You seem to have a knack for saying the right things at the right times for me, and I am sure others. I have read Job many times - I have lived Job as well. My faith is strong and is sometimes the only strength I have. Yes, I will see my "Mom" again in a far better place than this. I know that when I get to that place, I will be able to meet you "face to face" as well, and I will recognize you by your heart.

Thanks Chief. Desserts are not my strong suit.

AHhhh. OK, now it makes sense to me! We would say my Mom was so frugal she would squeeze a nickel and the buffalo would poop dimes. With the reduced value of the dollar our daughter says when I squeeze a quarter I get 3 dimes. Not so good of a return these days. ;-)

Thanks Bob, next week I will surely prepare it, with some variations. For example may I'll use some pork meat too, don't know, I always feel the need to experiment a little bit when I'm between my fridge and the oven :-)
    Have a good day

Dear Chief L of the North, Thanks so much for your expert analysis of my problem. I added the milk (in this case, evaporated) to the browned sugar/butter mixture (hot) fairly fast. Directions said to return to flame and boil 1 min. In that space of time the separation happened. I could have added the milk too fast as it bubbled up quite a bit. All you wrote sounds quite logical and I would have taken your advice about adding more water, a little at a time had I seen your post earlier.....but I decided my mini cheesecakes were too nice to put a salvaged sauce upon and ditched the whole pan of it. I'll put something else on them as a topping. Thanks again for your interest. Sincerely, Zoma

Dear Chief Longwind Of The North, I would like to thank you again for your best help. I love your website and I am reading it and hopefully learning but like you say it's the 'doing' that does the learning. We are gonna buy some lard today and make the crust 'your way'. I think that will be the best crust ever thanks to you. I will be looking for you on DC and thanks :)
