It's also trick or treat for UNICEF day.

https://www.unicefusa.org/trick-or-treat

Mrs. T is going to daughter and SIL's to pass out candy so they can take their kids out trick or treating. Our town's trick or treat was yesterday. As expected, we had two kids show up. Daughter and SIL get over a hundred.

Dinner will be a little disjointed, so I'm trying to decide between American chop suey, goulash, and Johnny Marzetti.

Dinner will be carne asada tonight.

My daughter, SIL and grandson will be coming so GS centric or treat here. We traditionally have American chop suey. It's a meal that can be prepared ahead and just kept warm until we're ready to eat.

I usually make soup on Halloween. This year it will be beef, veggies and barley. I will make early in the Instant Pot and let go to keep warm so anyone can help themselves whenever. I have a loaf of Italian bread for dipping which I may warm/crisp up.

Sometimes Auto correct is bizarre. That sentence should read: "SIL and grandson will be coming so GS can trick or treat here."

Cuban sammies here using up some of the pork roast we have in the deep freezer.

I usually make chili for Halloween dinner because I'm too busy running around without my head (how seasonal!) getting things ready. This year I'm ready - and Himself, who lives for this day, is crabbing and moving slowly since he has a backache. :glare: He'd better be good to go by 5:30 PM, or the first ten kids at our door will be very, very happy.

Oh, supper is leftovers. Good choices: small portion of chicken and barley stew, a decent portion of spunky black bean chicken, and half of the lobster mac-and-cheese that I made a few days ago. I should make a salad...

We shouldnt do trick or treat but people has been fed with Americans ideas so some do. We instead since we are half Scottish family, we had Samhuinn dinner with lentil soup and rice pudding for dessert. Daughter got to dooking fer apples and treacle scones on a string as games and it was all fun.

Our Cuban sammies with someone hoping I'll share.

It is raining here, the driveway gate is closed, outdoor lights are off, and Teddy is still at the dog-sitter's house -- so it's all about me tonight -- and that two pound beef rib I brought home from Louis Mueller's BBQ, lovingly wrapped and packed in a cooler. :devilish:

If I can manage to delay my carnivore cravings long enough, I'll take a picture.

Oh Med, you have to share!! The adorable look on that sweet face is heart melting!

We're warming up leftover Pozole Verde for supper and sadly we don't expect any trick or treaters. I used to love the little ones.

I got a bonus on this week’s paycheck, so I treated myself to a pound of red shrimp - $8.99 at Smith’s. EZ peel (deveined with shells on). They’re poached and in the fridge, and I’m gonna eat most of ‘em. I got a rotisserie chicken for Mark. He might want a few shrimp; we’ll see!

Actually, I might only eat half tonight, and have a po’ boy for lunch tomorrow.

I didn't keep count of the trick or treaters, but I know it was over 50; one group alone had eight kids. I gave out candy till I ran out, then turned off the porch light, came in and started reheating leftover meaty spaghetti sauce. We'll have that with cheese-filled tortellini and toasted sweet potato-onion bread I made over the weekend.

New neighborhood so didn't know what to expect. Got about 7 or 8 kids. Have tons of candy left since our old neighborhood had about 100 each year. Since I didn't know how busy I'd be with candy I made a pot of soup. 14 (really 7 doubled) can soup was really good! First time I made it and we all liked it alot.

Okay, I heated up the beef rib from Louis Mueller's. I did it in the microwave, because that is how they told me to re-heat it. I ate half of it. OMG, it was like beef butter -- that tender.

We have some places here in Dallas that do good beef BBQ, but not like Louis Mueller's. They have every award you can get, including the first ever BBQ joint with a James Beard Award.

Not sure my food porn (below) does it justice. Oh, that bone is 13-inches long. It weighed 2 pounds, 3 ounces as photographed.

Oh my gosh, what a sweet little pug picture, Med.

Casey, looks great! I'd love to chew the meat off of one of those bones. :chef:

I made a pot of split pea with ham this afternoon, with some corn bread. I only had around 30 littles trick or treating this evening, as there are some activities out at the fairgrounds - most parents around here take the littles to organized events these days.
