REC- Hot fudge pudding cake

1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup margarine
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 1/4 cup hot water

Heat oven to 350
In bowl, combine 3/4 cup sugar, flour, 1/4 cup cocoa, baking powder and salt.
Melt butter, add milk and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Add cocoa/sugar mixture. Mix well. Pour into 9 inch baking pan.
Mix 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Sprinkle and cover top of cake batter. DO NOT STIR. :excl:
Pour hot water on top of dry ingredients. DO NOT STIR :excl:
Bake 35 - 40 minutes or until the center is almost set.
Let stand 15 minutes. Spoon into dish and spoon sauce over top. Really good with vanilla ice cream.

My mom used to make this all the time growing up. I never knew the name of it and one day (about 25 years after I had it the last time) I was reading a box of Hershey's cocoa while making hot chocolate - duh, it was right on the container.

I absolutely love this stuff. We used to eat it in a bowl with milk poured over it. It was so good. It was hot and the milk was cold - yum!
