Cherokee Casserole

Yield: 6 Servings

1 lb Ground beef
1 tb Cooking oil

3/4 c Chopped onion
1 1/2 ts Salt

1 ds Pepper
1/8 ts Oregano
1/8 ts Garlic powder
1/8 ts Thyme

1 cn (16-oz) tomatoes
1 cn Cream of mushroom soup
1 cn Sliced mushrooms
1 c Cooked rice
2 -- (up to)
3 sl Cheese

Brown meat in oil. Add onions & cook until tender. Stir in all other ingredients except cheese. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat & simmer 5 minutes. Spoon into baking dish & lattice cheese on top. Broil until cheese melts.
