I'm not much help. In Hawaii I stuck 'em in the ground and they grew, and for the most part the same in Florida. They didn't seem to need any different care than other semi-tropical plants. Occaisionally they'd fail miserably, but at about the same rate as anything else I'd plant (in other words, sometimes it's luck of the draw). In Florida sometimes they'd get a little burned looking after a frost.
